Copper Abstracts

This art is part of a collection exploring the use of copper leaf and paint to create purely abstract work. Unbound by desire to create recognizable objects, these paintings allow the viewer to move deeper inside the art, in search of meaning, but also in taking pleasure in the forms alone. The eye can move unrestricted around the painting, taking in lines and textures, making discoveries, observing the shapes of pigment unshadowed and yet with heft. These images contain light-filled echoes of the natural world: a circle becomes a reflection in water, a line becomes a horizon where land and sky meet, coppery foil becomes a shaft of light.
